One of the reasons I wanted to blog was to give both women and men the inside scoop on some wonderful treatments and products available within my industry. as a medically certified aesthetician and laser technician, for the past 26 years I want to give to you factual and informative information, that helps you make safer choices with regard to treatments and procedures.
I’m amazed at some of the misconceptions that still exist regarding procedures.
So today I want to talk about laser hair removal as I receive so many questions across my social media platforms.
Laser hair removal is definitely becoming more accessible and affordable. everyone from Nurses Doctors Estheticians, Beauty Therapists and day spas are now offering this service.
It is one of my favourite treatments too because most people (Men, Women and all ethnicities) can absolutely benefit from it. Now that we are heading into the spring, lets not even talk about shaving, how time-consuming it can be and the money we’ve spent on waxing. Laser hair removal is a long-lasting solution, it is by far more superior, as the regrowth decreases by 10-15 per cent after each session – professionally I would recommend at least eight to ten sessions by monthly for absolute best results per area. once completed your hair-free and smooth as a baby bottom.
To date I’ve had laser hair removal on my legs, underarms, bikini, upper lip and a small area on my chin (yes, I know !) treated.
However maintenance is essential if you want to continue with the amazing results! one session per year is usually suffice.
Once upon a time treating darker skin tones was impossible and the ideal candidate was fair skin tone with dark pigment hair – technology has improved so much over the past 15 years and there are few types of lasers on the market now that have the ability to treat darker skin tones, such as nd; YAG the nd; YAG has a long pulse duration, meaning it is effective in targeting the hair follicle (to destroy it) yet less damaging on darker skin tones – a decreased chance of skin burning! because the energy of the laser is delivered at a slower rate – but buyer beware even with all the advancements in technology, nothing takes the place of an experienced laser technician, I cannot stress this point enough.
Please be sure to find someone with experience performing laser hair removal on all skin tones and it is equally important to make sure the technician has worked with several types of lasers.
Optimal laser hair removal results require 8 – 10 treatment sessions.
Always shave 24 hours prior to treatment.
Almost any area of the body can be treated ( Don’t be shy ).
Inform your laser technician – if there has been any change in medications and or supplements – prior to every laser treatment.
Most people see an 80-90 % reduction in hair growth on completion of their sessions.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, If you have a question and want a recommendation for a laser technician in your area, or you’d like more information! don’t hesitate to contact me.
